Construction on campus
Archives - November 2007:
Caltech is undergoing unprecedented growth over the next few years. The construction of new buildings is exciting, but it can also be taxing when it interferes with our current activities. To minimize confusion and chaos, this site will address the closures of areas for construction and specify the dates each area will be affected.
Groundbreaking for the Annenberg Center for Information Science and Technology will commence in December 2007, and by July 2009, the building will serve as IST's new center of operations. Preparation for construction began on November 13 with the erection of a fence around the site.
Beginning the same day, another fence was erected between Beckman Lab (BBB) and Baxter Hall to facilitate the relocation of a large storm drain from the site of the soon-to-be-built Schlinger Laboratory for Chemistry and Chemical Engineering to Beckman Mall (formerly called the Court of Man). This fence will extend from the northwest corner of Beckman Auditorium to San Pasqual Walk. The pedestrian walkways on either side of Beckman Mall will remain open; however, the north end of Beckman Lab walk will be closed off. The fence area will sweep around extreme northwest of Beckman Auditorium to its northernmost edge.
This map in PDF format shows the locations of the projects on campus.
